​​Seniors even it up

Earlier in July, WRYM received a cheque for $300 from one of our “senior” supporters, with a note instructing me to thank the Prime Minister, but send the charitable donation receipt to her. OK … ? Then we received a couple more $300 cheques from seniors. Subsequently, I received my “pandemic pension top up” (which, fortunately, I don’t really need either) and “the lights came on”. Some of us who are seniors have received a $300 “pandemic top up” from the federal government and are donating it to WRYM; because, we believe “our guys” need it more. As far as I know, there are no pandemic cheques for homeless youth. Something to think about?

​​Another thought

For “our guys” that move on to independent living, Cleaning Kits, being a bucket, sponge mop, broom, dust pan, toilet brush, scrub sponges, microfibre wash and dust cloths, garbage bags, dish soap, bathroom and disinfectant floor cleaner, plus a manual can opener range in cost from almost exactly $50 to $100 depending where we shop.

Special thanks to Ron, Brandon and Ian MacIsaac, a fine family that became “lumber jacks” for a day, trimming and clearing trees from our overgrown backyard.
