Our History
The Windsor Residence for Young Men (WRYM) opened its doors for the first time on October 22, 2012.  Previously, there was no residential facility in the Windsor-Essex community dedicated to the needs of our homeless young men, ages 16-24 years.
"Our mission is helping young men experiencing homelessness find the pride in themselves and the confidence in their future necessary to seize the rewards of a productive life which
contributes to our community."

Who are we?
The Windsor Residence for Young Men (WRYM) is a charitable organization that promotes the health, personal skills, and social empowerment of homeless young men.
What do we do?
The Windsor Residence for Young Men (WRYM) supports youth 16-24 years of age as they leave homelessness behind to build new lives.  WRYM provides a range of services to support youth who identify as male on their journey from “street to home”.

  • Almost 1/3 of residents became employed
  • On average, each resident is connected with 7 referrals for support to address housing and personal needs
  • 240 life skill classes are taught through YIP each year
  • 100 youth are served in Aftercare each year and over 2,000+ supports are given

How do we collaborate?

Testimonials from past residents
"I benefited from the life skills/cooking, cleaning, transportation, advocating, assistance, from staff and kindness.
I feel like I grew up while being here in a positive setting.”

“Getting connected with services to help me with my discharge and budgeting was beneficial.”

“I was referred to many places, for funding (OW), Housing (CHR), doctors (family doctor, dentist, eye doctor), abuse, and counselling.
Although I did not use it all, I was thankful to know the supports were there.”

“All essentials and extras were available.  From hygiene, to food, to assistance from staff.  I could get help whenever.”

“The staff and residents made me feel safe."

We offer youth a hand up – not a handout.
